Recommended Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier for 2010 Acura RDX and 2013 Acura MDX
Question:
I am looking for a roof rack system that can be used Interchangeable on both a 2010 Acura RDX and a 2013 Acura MDX. Both vehicles have no existing rails or crossbars. The specs seem to be very similar however I wanted to make sure before I make the purchase. Please let me know if this is possible and any recommendations on make and model. The intended use is to carry two Kayaks! Thanks

Roof Rack options for both the 2010 Acura RDX and the 2013 Acura MDX are similar, but there are slight differences that will require slightly different parts.
For your RDX I recommend going with the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack which consists of the Aero Crossbars, part # RRVA137S-2 for Silver or part # RRVA137B-2 for Black, the 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA, and the DK Fit Kit # DK177.
To make this compatible with your MDX you will use the same crossbars and legs but you will need to use the DK Fit Kit # DK176 instead.
This roof rack comes with plastic locks that can be upgraded to metal locks using part # RRVA-LEC4.
The kayak carrier that I recommend going with is the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S512. This carrier is foldable which makes for easy storage and added clearance plus it can be expanded to hold 2 kayaks with part # RRS512X.
You can get additional straps with part # IN717 for a 13 foot option along with the Strap Anchors # RRRAS. You might also be interested in the Anchor Straps # RRRBAS-2 which will make securing your kayaks much easier.
I have attached some review videos that you can check out.
