Is Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector Durable

Question:
I presently have a Hopkins 40955 connector on my 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. I drilled a hole in the step bumper to allow the unit to be installed next to the license plate rather that on the stock receiver. The 40955 has a flimsy cover that has broken off twice. Hopkins will replace the cover but I want a more durable unit. Is the 40950 a direct replacement - same size and same bolt pattern as the 40955? It appears to have a better cover with a sturdier hinge. Is it a better unit in this respect?

I have attached a photo of part # HM40950 you can check out.
As you can see in the photo the arrows are pointing to the hinges used on the connector are more heavy-duty than the strap and hinge on the 40955 you currently have. We have not had customers complain about the durability of this connector and it should work well for you.
