Can a 12 inch Trailer Tire/Rim Get Replaced by a 14 inch Tire/Wheel

Question:

I have a boat axle measuring 64 and a half inches hub to hub. spring center is 54 and a half inches. lug pattern is 5 by 4.5. Want too go from 12 inch tires to 14 inch tires, but the 14 inch tires hit into trailer frame. Can you help me?

The section width of the narrowest 14-inch trailer tire is going to be 8.1 inches. For a wheel and tire that would fit the bolt pattern you have you would want the part # TA82MR.

This tire size will also be 26.3 inches in overall height. Without knowing what tire size you have now and how much clearance you have between the frame now, it is hard for me to say for certain if you would be good.

I can say that the rim/tire I referenced has a zero offset so the width of the tire would be 4.05 inches inward of the hub face of your trailer. You can measure from the hub face to the frame rail to see if it would fit. If not, you would need to go with a longer axle.

It's possible. You just need to be sure you have enough wheel well and frame clearance available for the larger size, as Jameson mentioned above. We recommend having at least around 4-1/2" of clearance between the top of the tire and fender to allow for proper suspension travel.
