Dimensions Of Mounting Plate For RodBuckle Retractable Fishing Rod Tie-Down Strap

Updated 07/07/2025 | Published 04/10/2015

Question:

I have a 1999 Stratos 295 pro elite bass boat I am wanting to install these on to replace the bungee cord factory set up. Besides the length of the strap what are the dimensions of the unit that installs on the gun wale of my boat. The description just says 2x 24. I only have around 2 3/4inch of height to work with where these will mount.

I have attached a photo of the RodBuckle Retractable Fishing Rod Tie-Down Strap, part # IMF14200. The photo has the dimensions you are interested in. As you can see, the mounting plate measures 2 1/2 inches tall so you should have no problem mounting it on your 2-3/4 inch Gunwale. The length is 4 1/2", and hole spacing is 3 15/16" center to center.

The photo also shows the dimensions for the bottom portion of the buckle system. This system comes with a template that you use to make sure the location has the room needed for installation.

Your dimensions in the picture are way off. They are 4 1/2”x2 1/2”. This was important info on my purchase as I’m mounting under the deck and 4 3/16” space due to under deck structure. I used this answer to help in my decision. On the starboard side I have exactly 4 1/2” space as apparently manufacturer didn’t have a square. One will fit but I’m deciding if I want to chance modifying it or returning it.

@Tom I am not sure how the measurements were so off on his diagram, but I definitely do apologize. I just went out and measured the # IMF14200 and it is indeed 4 1/2" long with hole spacing 3 15/16" from center hole to center hole. If you need a return label sent your way, please let me know and I will make sure that you shipping is covered as well. I will be deleting this answer page later on today, I just want to make sure that you see my answer first Tom.

@KateF Thanks. So one will fit with no room for error. I’ve made my own template for precise fitting. The other one is too big as the under deck supports are out of square. I’m contemplating modifying the part to fit knowing once I do that it’s mine. Unreturnable. But I really want these to work. Thanks

@Tom Let me know how it works out! Like I said, if you need a label just let me know. What kind of boat are you putting this on? I am on week 5 of no boat, waiting for the new motor to come in. Not something we wanted to do this summer, but at least we won't have to worry about it acting up in the next bass tournament.
