Thule and other bike rack manufacturers offer 2- and 3-bike trunk-mount racks that are a fit for the BMW X5, for both the M-version and not.

For example, if your X5 is a 2013 model year you can use any of the carriers shown on the link provided, and these include options from Thule, Yakima and Hollywood Racks. Some include locks, while others do not; some hold the bike by the frame while others grab the wheels.
