Replacement Base Plate To Replace Roadmaster 1559-1 Base Plate On 2009 Honda CR-V

Question:

Im looking to purchase a used 2009 Honda CR-V that has on it a Roadmaster 1559-1 base plate. Unfortunately the weldments are missing and Im told Roadmaster no longer stocks these and they may not custom make them either anymore. Is there any reason why we cant use a piece of square steel that will slide into the two square openings on the base plate and fabricate something that will connect to a Blue-Ox tow bar? Seems simple to me unless Im missing something here?

Expert Reply:

I contacted Roadmaster and the 1559-1 base plate on the 2009 Honda CR-V is obsolete so the arms are no longer in production. I can't really recommend to do any fabrications to attach the older base plate to the Blue Ox Tow bar because of safety reasons and it will void the limited life time warranty of base plate if something were to happen.

I recommend to replace the base plate on the Honda with the Blue Ox base plate part # BX2246 which is compatible with the Blue Ox Adventurer, Aladdin, Allure part # BX7460P, Alpha part # BX7380, Avail part # BX7420, Aventa, and Trion part # BX7520P tow bars.
