Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2015 Toyota 4Runner INB127

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Inno roof rack system with the Inno square crossbars that are 50 inches long, the Inno feet for square crossbars, right here on our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Now for a comparison between these square bars and other roof racks design for your 4Runner is if you want more weight capacity, you would go with the square crossbars because they're made of steel, they have more capacity, but they could be slightly noisier compared to an aero crossbar. So that's something worth considering. Also, you might even want the longer crossbars, since if you want more overhang, this doesn't provide more overhang. You could just easily step up the size, no issues at all.

So it is up to you and your adventure. Some kayak carriers and some accessories require more overhang. So check those out before you choose your roof rack. So we have a bunch of different roof rack options right here at etrailer. That's because for your 4Runner, if you're going out on an adventure, you might want a little bit extra space for either your cargo, your roof rack accessories, like your bike racks, your roof boxes, or even your kayak carriers.

That's where this comes in. So this is an aftermarket roof rack. You add this onto your raised side rails on your 4Runner, and that allows you to carry those extra things on your roof. So let's take a look at this specific system, just to see if it's the right fit for you, your vehicle, your adventure, especially compared to the other roof rack options we have. So these are the square bars and they're made of steel.

So they have that nice weight capacity. Inno also has their own unique design. Sometimes, they don't look as good on vehicles, but on our 4Runner, I think their design works out pretty well. It matches just the sporty ruggedness of the 4Runner. So these are the 50-inch long crossbars in black.

So let's take a look at different measurements, just to see how it fits on your roof. So first we'll take a look at overhang. So technically, you have an overhang of two and a half inches. That's measuring from this end of the tower to your endcap. But because of the way our tower is built, where it sticks further out, I would like to say there's actually zero overhang with this crossbar length. Now let's talk about roof height and roof clearance. So roof clearance is going to be from the highest point of the roof to the bottom of our crossbar. So right here, it measures at about three inches of roof clearance. So if you do have clamps that go around your crossbars, that's how much space you have for those clamps. Also, if you carrying around skis and they do have extra thick bindings, you might wanna be concerned about roof clearance. So let's take a measurement that will help out with that too, and that's height. So you have it where it's four inches above your roof. So that's where your accessories are going to be sitting on. Add that to your clearance and that's how much space you have to work with. So your Toyota 4Runner could possibly also come with factory crossbars. These actually had those factory crossbars, but I took them off and replaced them with these roof rack bars because of the limited clearance. The factory bars fit right inside your rails and the space between the bars and your roof is so small that most of our clamps here at etrailer did not fit around them. So if you already have factory crossbars, you're wondering why you might want an aftermarket roof rack, that is the reason. You get more versatility, more clearance, and can carry around more things. Now speaking of clamps, you will have to make sure that your accessories fit around these bars. It's really cool that they have a 220-pound weight capacity. It's even more than your aero bars. But the thing with your modern aero bars is that they're designed to reduce wind noise and wind drag. And the Inno bars have a T-track channel, these do not. So just make sure that whatever accessory you have, if it does have a clamp, it is designed to fit around your square crossbars. We also have an integrated lock. So you do get these keys, and these keys are key to the towers that come with your kit. So one key to access all four locks. So these go right in there, twist them, and then you can take off the endcap. And when you wanna secure them, you just pop them right back in, because once that is locked in place, that endcap prevents you from boosting the tower. Another thing about our tower is we have this pad, and that goes around your raised rail. So this actually has a little bit more cushion compared to our other towers that I've seen. And it's nice to see how well that fitting is around your rail, as well as your options when it comes to what notch you put that strap in, just to get the best fit for you. Now let's talk about the tower. So your 4Runner has these raised side rails. I really like raised side rails because it gives you a little bit of versatility when it comes to any of your roof racks. You can move them back and forth just to get the best crossbar spread for your accessory. Now these towers are designed to go around your raised side rails. They have a strap that fits around those rails, and then they have a lever that tightens down. So let's take a look at that install process. So the install process is very simple, especially since these go right on to your raised rails. So this is pretty much all I need to install my crossbars. I already installed the rear ones so that we install the front ones together. So you have your crossbar, you have your towers, you have your endcaps for your towers, and you have your endcaps for your crossbars themselves. Some other tools that I use are the Moky doorstep, just to give myself some extra height and traction up on to our roof, and a tape measure so you can make sure that everything is aligned and has a good enough overhang. So let's start installing this crossbar. So get your tower, release the rubber strip for the notch that it is in. You may need to loosen that strap if needed, then you go get your crossbar. So we're just gonna bring this in and then feed this through. You may need to push down in order to get enough. So once you have your towers on your crossbars, you'll then make sure again that the straps are released. And now it's time to put them on our roof. While this is possible to do on your own, I highly recommend having your friend help you out, and just grab one end as you put it on your 4Runner. So this is Andy here. He's just gonna grab that tower and help align it with our raised rails. You may need to push the crossbar out a little bit. There we go. That will help both of us get onto the raised rails. Now we have two options when it comes to placing our straps 'cause you do go around the rail and then up into the tower. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna place it on the top notch, where it says standard or Normal. And before you fully tighten down your towers, you're gonna wanna measure for overhang. So that's gonna measure from your tower to the end of your crossbars, measure on the other side, and try to get them to match up as much as you can. That's how you know your crossbar is evenly distributed on your towers. But once you've done that, go ahead and tighten this all the way down. I recommend going partway on this side and on that side, and then tighten both down. That way, you don't skew it to one side or the other. Once you have this fully tightened down, just drop that lever so it's out of the way, and then start putting your endcaps on. So you're gonna have an endcap for both the crossbar. That pops right on, there's just a rubber endcap. Then you have this endcap for your tower that fits right into your tower and you have these keys to secure it. So do the exact same process on all four towers, so both of your crossbar pairs, and once you confirm that everything is locked down and tightened down, that's it for the install process. So my personal thoughts about this roof rack system is I like the weight capacity. I really like this design. I think it looks really rugged and sporty. I personally would use this with longer crossbars. Since you do not have T-track channels on top, if I really wanna maximize that 220-pound capacity, I would like longer bar space. So that's definitely something worth considering. If you're not into the square bar, you don't need that much weight capacity, definitely check out the Inno aero crossbars, especially the ones with the Through feet. Those look really good on the 4Runner and might be something worth considering as well. And that was a look right here at our Inno roof rack system with the 50-inch long Inno square crossbars and the Inno feet for square crossbars and your raised side rails, right here on our 2016 Toyota 4Runner..

Got it for a 2006 Toyota Prius. Overall a great purchase. It was sturdy and never had any major issues. I would 100% recommend getting the locks.

I almost gave it 4 stars for one reason. If you put it on as the instructions tell you to, it whistles really loud. It just takes a bunch of small iterations and quick drives down the street to find out if it stopped making noise. Other than that, great purchase.

Ordered a full (naked) roof rack package with snowboard/ski attachment. Items arrived as described. Set-up was simple and flawless. Instructions are fairly clear & simple. A paper tape measure is included. No issues with fitment.Purchased the fairing to reduce wind noise and it works perfect! No excessive wind noise whatsoever -- can open sunroof comfortably if I wanted to. Have not yet put my snowboards inthe attachment yet, but do not foresee any issues. Roof rack is on a 2015 Infiniti Q40 (G37 sedan 2009-2015).

The roof racks have been great. I've used them with j-hooks and rear loading slider type pads. They are easy to install/remove. In the picture is my 17ft long sea kayak that stayed secure and safe on a 6 hour journey in high winds using the racks.

Fast delivery and great communication about tracking. Easy to follow instructions. Great fit and looks. Thank you.

Great cross bars to replace the rusty original cross bars this vintage Thule rack. Classic cars require these old style racks and many are 30+ years old and great to be able to give new life to an old rack system.

by: James03/12/2022

I've had Thule bars on my cars for +30 years (Honda, Toyota and Subaru) using both fixed point and clamp on foot packs. This side rail set is better than any Thule branded foot pack I've used. Still using the same square Thule bars I've had since the 1990s. Everything just went together without any fuss. From out of the box to onto the car took 15 minutes. Wanted to add a photo, but the "add photos" button isn't working.

The side rail set is great. During a storm, I drove under dangling power line from the pole to a house that I didnt see. The line got caught on my roof rack. The foot pack held as I drove along and snapped the wire. Amazed it didnt rip the whole rack off my car.

2010 Dodge Caliber

Awesome product. I’ve been looking for a while to find custom fit roof racks for my 2010 Dodge Caliber. the dealership told me I would have to drill them right to my car and the labour would’ve cost me a fortune. I’m so extremely happy that I found etrailer that had exactly what I was looking for! No drilling, and no hassle! The instructions were easy to follow and the assembly went smoothly ! Fast delievery and great customer service. I would 10/10 recommend etrailer to anyone who is looking for durable, stylish looking roof racks for a great price!

by: Chad K.03/07/2021

For a roof with no mounts, this is a perfect choice!

The fitment selected for me by etrailer.com for my 2012 Ford Escape was perfect. The Inno Rack System is easy to install (made easier by the use of etrailer.com's instruction video links).

I chose the square bar fitment because I prefer the look over the various "aerodynamic designs", while I prefer the look over others, a wind fairing will prove to eliminate the very hint of sound that does emanate into the cabin.

If you are looking for a Clamp mounted system that requires zero modification/easily removabl this is the system for you.

by: Lonnie02/18/2019

I’ve had this roof rack system for about a year now and it has worked consistently well for the entire 12 months and I believe will continue to work well for me for the for seeable future. I gave it four stars initially and four stars now because I do think the fit and finish of the system could be better. That’s not a dealbreaker for its function because it’s excellent in doing the work it’s designed to do but it just isn’t the prettiest.
Great rack, buy it... it will work hard for you.

Picture provided features Curt basket with Rino Bedliner treatment.

This product exceeded my expectations. I purchased these with the INNO square crossbars and they fit my 2014 Explorer perfect!! Extremely easy to install took about 15 minutes. Very sturdy- I will be hauling my two paddle boards and have no doubt they will travel well! I highly recommend this product.

by: Jason05/08/2021

So far so good! Was fairly easy to install. I will say the straps that came with it are not quite long enough for my kayak’s. Not an issue for me though. Overall I am definitely satisfied and would recommend for anyone that needs a rack for kayaks.

by: H. B.08/21/2017

First and foremost… YES! I would recommend this product to anyone, so def. read further. Price wise… well below what the more known name brands wanted for a similar setup. Product is well made , but if I had to point out one defect… the rubber shoe the rests between the factory roof bar and the inno feet detaches easily during install (see photo). I will figure out how to securely attatch it when I remove it, because (IMO) it's not one of those units that remains on perminantly.

Toyota 4Runner

Just installed the etrailer inno square load bars on my 4Runner. I also purchased the Round/square Crossbar Fit Kit .
Looks great and mounted easily to my Prinsu Rack.

by: Brian10/21/2023

This car roof rack cross bars were easy to assembly. Attaching the cross bars to the car takes a little patience to ensure that the cross bars are centered on the car, the correct distance from the center of the front & rear doors and parallel. But going through it once it is easy to repeat. I have sued the carrier once to haul 13 2x4 lumber no problems.

by: Tom Burger05/23/2021

I followed directions and the rack went on without a hitch. The measuring tape provided was a bit confusing but my tape measure did just fine. It pays to watch for any movement of the stays as you tighten them. It fit perfectly. I was impressed with the quality of the unit. The torque wrench provided was a nice bonus. I attached a boat rack for my rowing shell and I’m confident it will be safe all the way to the water.

by: Hannon07/25/2019

We needed a set of crossbars for our vehicle and read many reviews of other brands before finding this product. We like the bars and the installation of them. We needed something trustworthy to accomodate our rooftop tent and this fit our needs. We experienced excellent customer service!

Been a month haven’t received them yet they are in stock but guess we are waiting for one item which it’s in stock date gets pushed back every day. And the company doesn’t let the customer know the date changes or when they will send it.

I'm very happy with the purchase. I wasn't sure about spending this much money on something that might not work well. After using it, I'd gladly purchase again for a different car.

Fit well on my car, was very solid and secure. Did not do any damage to the paint on my roof.
Installation is pretty easy - be sure to watch the video and follow the instructions for measurements to set bases to. I could see it being a nightmare to install without those measurements.

The kit also comes with a tightening handle that has a built in torque setting. It's not shown in the video, but a good idea to use so you're sure everything is tightened properly.

Fuel economy suffers about 10-15% with the racks on - even empty. I take them off when I don't need them. I marked the bottom surface of the bars with a paint marker so I know where to put the bases when I put them back on. I also painted on the measurements from the door post so it's easier to reinstall.

Also, an item was missing from the box. etrailer customer service was fantastic about getting me a replacement part.

by: David 03/26/2023

Haven't installed yet but can tell from inspection that the design is excellent and confident it will suit my purposes from reading others reviews. So glad Inno is making these parts so I can utilize my old square bars, racks, and accessories.

These feet are very easy to use, install, and uninstall on my van (Toyota Sienna). I've had them a year and used them many times, and they seem quite durable. With the long bars, I can put 2 canoes on the roof of my van for trips. I'm very happy with the feet and bars, they're a great value compared to other brands of roof racks, and I would definitely buy them again.

by: Blah Blah Blah Motorcycles04/08/2024

Easy to install and sturdy for the roof basket that was installed as well. Zero problems for the miles driven and the load on top.

by: Walter04/11/2019

Hi, awesome roof rack, I took me a while to find it. Like the design and so far so good, still looks like new

by: 12/11/2023

The bars could be longer because you cannot attach two sets of attachments, otherwise they are fine

by: Andres11/05/2021

I'm loving the roof rack , and Ashley from customer service was really helpful. Thanks e trailer. The reviews didn't lie.

  • Since the older Sears X Cargo Boxes sometimes use smaller u-bolts than what can fit on the wider sized aero bars that are becoming more common your best roof rack option for your 2016 Lexus GX 460 would be a square bar Inno roof rack part numbers # INB127, # INTR, and # INTR134. The bar spread of this rack should be compatible with your box but you might be able to drill new holes in the box worst case scenario.

  • Installation Method for Inno Square Bar Roof Rack on 2016 Lexus GX 460
  • If the flush roof side rails on your 2016 Lexus GX 460 do not have a fixed-point mounting system, but rather have tracks like those shown in the linked photo, then the rack crossbars' position will be adjustable. If you see one specific mounting point in the rails then this means the car is intended for a fixed-point rack installation. This Inno rack, composed of parts # INB127, # INTR and # INTR134, works for both roof configurations.

  • Roof Rack System for a 1996 Cadillac DeVille
  • I do have an option for you but the Inno Square Crossbar System part # INB127, part # INSUT, and part # INK153 is not a confirmed fit for your 1996 Cadillac DeVille. Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a custom fit roof rack for your vehicle. • SportRack doesn't have a roof rack that will fit but I do have an even better roof rack that will fit the side rails on your 2016 Subaru Forester. And it does not cost much more. So what in need is the Inno roof rack # INB117 for the bars and # INFR for the feet. The bars have the same dimensions as the Thule bars so your bike racks will fit. It also comes with locks and has a limited lifetime warranty.

  • Can 4 Bikes Be Loaded Onto The Thule SquareBar Crossbars On A 2018 Subaru Forester?
  • I can't personally see anything wrong with doing that, however the only thing I can think of that you'd need to be aware of is the total weight being loaded. As long as your bikes are not exceeding the maximum weight capacity of your crossbars, and you have enough room there should not be an issue. .

  • What Feet Can I Use with My Older Thule Square Crossbars on My 2008 Volvo XC70 with Raised Rails?
  • If you have older Thule square load bars that do not have the bottom channel, there is a way to use a different manufacturer's feet with your 2008 Volvo XC70. For that route, I recommend using the Inno Feet for Square Crossbars # INFR. These feet are designed to fit Inno square bars that measure 7/8" tall x 1-1/4" wide. Since the Thule square load bars have these same dimensions, you can use the Inno # INFR on your vehicle's raised rails. We've had dozens of neighbors who have used this method.

  • What Feet Can I Use to Mount Older Thule Square Crossbars on My 2012 Toyota Sienna with Raised Rails
  • I have the part you need! Since Thule discontinued their old feet that are compatible with the older square crossbars without a bottom channel, Thule doesn't make feet that are compatible. However, Inno uses the same exact square crossbar dimensions 7/8" tall x 1-1/4" wide as Thule.
