Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at these Hellwig EZ-550 above axle helper springs. These are custom helper springs that are going to install above the factory leaf springs on your vehicle. It's gonna help reduce any sway and prevent sagging when towing or hauling heavy loads. Now, this is a custom fit, but it is gonna fit a wide range of vehicles more than I can even list in a graphic on my screen. So I would recommend that you use our vehicle fit guide.

You'll select your year, make, and model. We'll let you know which components have been confirmed to work with your vehicle so that you're getting the right ones. But if you've used that and you've found your way here, you can rest assure that this is gonna work for you. It's gonna do a great job of flexing with your leaf springs to help limit any balancing while providing optimal stability for you. These will have a weight capacity of 500 pounds.

Now when you hear that, it's tempting to think that means it's going to give you a 500 pound greater weight carrying capacity and that's not the case. No suspension enhancement system is going to increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So think of it less like a second set of hands that's helping you lift more weight. Think of it more like a back brace. So it's there to just kinda help take some of the strain off your suspension system, help extend the life of your factory suspension system.

So definitely not going to increase capacity. Just going to help it ride better for you. This is gonna install very easily. It's a bolt-on installation so it's just gonna bolt above your factory leaf springs. The mounting hardware, as you can see, is included here.

Now one thing to note, you do not want to install this on vehicles with composite or plastic leaf springs. You wanna make sure that you're installing these on steel leaf springs compared to your airbags which is what most people think of when they hear suspension enhancement. So with your airbags, you do have a lot of adjustability. So if you're gonna be taking a heavy load, you can air up those airbags, give you more support. If it's gonna be a light load, you can let air out, have less engagement with these. With these, these are more of a set it and forget it kinda set up. So once you get them installed, you do have a little bit of adjustability with where you get the U-bolts mounted, how tight those are and that sort of thing, but there's not gonna be as much adjustment as with your airbags. So if you're looking more for the adjustability, I would go with airbags. If you're wanting to just kind of set and forget it, have something that's gonna help take some of that strain off your suspension, this is gonna be a great way to go for you.
