Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Add to that the unique turbulator technology - whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure - and you have an easy and effective cooling system.

Video Transcript for Review of Derale Transmission Coolers - Series 7000 Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit - D13104

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this Derale series 7000 Tube Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with hose barb inlets. This is recommended for full size cars, trucks, and SUVs. So to confirm if this is going to work for your vehicle, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com and input the year, make and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will let you know if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. This high quality tube fin heat exchanger will cut down on heat related failures and increase the life of your vehicle's transmission, improving the overall functioning and performance. It will also prolong the period between necessary fluid changes. So perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, this tube thin effectively is going, effectively cools a variety of automotive system.

The concept is simple. Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins, and then the fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Add to that, the unique turbulator technology where the fluid is agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in temperature. And really you have an easy and effective cooling system. Now this cooler is made here in the USA and it's designed with copper tubing expanded into the aluminum fins for maximum heat transfer.

And as you probably know, copper is the best material for conducting the heat out of fluid while aluminum is ideal for transferring and dissipating that heat. Now this is protected from possible damage during installation by plastic fin guards and a powder coat finish. And this includes everything that you see here on the table before me. You're gonna get this high temperature, four foot long OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps, then nylon mounting rods with pads, and then the bendable metal mounting brackets, and then this Insta-Dapt radiator adapter and all the necessary hardware that you're going to need to successfully install this. Just a quick note about this Insta-Dapt radiator adapter.

This is going to fit most vehicles with a 5/16th of an inch transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation. Now on your screen, I am including a rough diagram of this unit, giving you some dimensions that will prove helpful for you. The inlet size is 11/32 of an inch hose barb. The overall dimensions is 16 5/8 inches wide and 10 1/4 inches tall and 3/4 of an inch deep.

The core length is 13 and 3/4 inches long and then the distance between the inlets are 8 3/4 inches. So that diagram can also be found on this product page and a sheet of instructions are also included to help you through the installation process. Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

Nice quality. Very effective. Installed on '08 Chrysler Town & Country van with 3.8L engine. Thought website difficult to decipher best product for my application. Had to buy [online] a pair of couplers for the 11/32nds ID hose supplied (used to splice into tranny line (cost about $6). Should have been supplied.

World class customer service. I will instal the part in the next few days but, super happy with the service and attention.

"02" F250 7.3 Super Duty I found the service from etrailer to be very satisfactory. The product arrived in good shape and on time. The on-line video was very helpful. Installing went smooth with one exception. As mentioned in many other on-line reviews, there was not enough hose supplied with the unit. While I had not problem with needing to purchase a small amount of hose, the package indicated that it was to be 5/16" ID. While the supplied hose was made in China and the walls of that hose where very flexible, the Gates hose, (made in the USA) was very rigid and would not go on the stud of the cooler, requiring a second trip to the Auto parts store to purchase 4' of 3/8" hose. A 12 mile round trip. Also, required the purchase of a knurled ended 5/16" hose connection and on qt. of tyranny fluid. Total added cost of $20.20. Have not towed with it installed yet.

This is my 1st after market trans cooler and i was always under the impressuon to get the biggest one that will fit. This is the biggest one without any modification. Easy install installed between a/c confessor and existing stock trans cooler bracket. I bypassed the engine radiator all together so I'm running 2 coolers the stock one and D13105. It's installed on a lifted with 35in tires 2012 silverado 6.2l 4x4 6l80 trans with the tow package. It's May 22 and 93 degrees the avg every day running temp before install was 193 now my running temp is 142, I ccouldn't believe how much of a difference the cooler made. I haven't tried it in 4x4 yet but I'm sure it's going to be just as good. This coming weekend is memorial day so I'm planning a weekend on the beach going to do some off road 4x4 and for sure pulling some stuck people out of the sand. If i can post and update of temps from the weekend I will .

Transmission cooler was a little larger than I needed I should've gone with a smaller one .had trouble fitting it in the suburban but we modify The suburban made it work. There was not enough transmission hose. So if you're install it in large vehicle need to get extra hose ,extra clams and tie wraps. Overall the transmission cooler works great and transmission is about 20° cooler.

by:

Product arrived as described. I have not installed yet because i see that i will need some additional hose, and the vehicle specific adapter for the radiator trans cooler. I bought this unit for my 2001 dodge ram 1500 in preparation for a cross country drive that i would be pulling a trailer. My truck was a gift but it has 151,000 miles on it and everything is original equipment. It still runs strong I want to keep it running as long as possible. I'm sure I will have to replace the transmission at some point, but if this small investment can keep me going for a few thousand extra miles I'm going to be happy.

by:

Used as replacement for primary transmission cooler. Seemed to keep transmission cooler, but really noticed a difference after adding a slim line fan to the combination. Etrailer products and customer service always top notch.

by:

The Transmission Cooler Kit was exactly as described. Installation was easy. It seems to be performing well.

by:

The hoes that came with the kit was not long enough. other than that everything was fine.I also purchased radiator adapter fitting which I did not need

by:

delivered as ordered, on time. helpful vidio for install on my truck. I would order this product again .product should come with more hose and clamps.

by:

Nice Cooler! This is the max size you can fit on Suburban/Tahoe 2007-2014.
My transmission is not overheating any more.
Thanks!

by:

Quality product. Great price. And timely delivery. Always pleased with my purchases from etrailer.

by:

Great product easy to install by watching video

by:

OK. Mounting tabs would be nice.

by:

Easy install on my 2007 Toyota Tacoma.

by:

Easy install other than I needed to buy more hose to hook inline with my existing cooler. It took all but 6" just to get to a tranny line then another 3ft to reach cooler.

by:

excellent and fast shipping but a time to we install the cooler the hose is not enough for the complete setup. I will have to buy more hose in another local store

by:

Alway good prices and fast service and they have saved me time looking for items i needed. Never hesitate to order from them! AAA+++

by:

Fast shipping… installed it the same day it came perfect fit

by:

by:

by:

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Hummer H2
The most efficient transmission cooler we offer that is a Class IV would be the Derale 16-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler # D51608. The dimensions of this cooler are 13 inches wide x 6-9/16 inches tall x 2 inches deep. You will need to measure the room you have in front of your radiator, but most likely this would work for you. You will also need a few adapters. It is hard to say for certain what lines you do have, but you will need a Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting...
