Basically, if you have a pickup and you got a tow package with it and you got one of these wire harnesses that plug underneath the dash and plugs into your brake controller, you might have five or sometimes even more wires coming off of it. And you notice that your brake controller only uses four. We have got one over here, we will show you, that has just the four wires and what do you do with the extra wires? The short answer is do not worry about it, because the brake controller has all that it needs from these four wires. more

Today on our 2009 Cadillac Escalade, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, proportional trailer break controller for 1, up to 4 axles. Part number on it is 90195. Now the P3's proportional setup is really going to help us out in many different situations, whether it's an emergency braking situation where we really need maximum force immediately. The P3 picks up on that and it's going to send that power back to our trailer, right up to whatever level we have it set at. If we're just in stop and go traffic, and we're just lightly applying the brakes here and then, it's also going to sense that so we don't have to worry about the wheels on our trailer lighting up or dragging our truck down a lot when we just want a little bit of braking power to be applied. Now you can see here on the bottom, we've got a manual override lever. This is going to allow us to manually apply our trailer brakes in the events that we need to. Nice thing about is no matter where we've got our output set, when we reach down in the panic situation it's only going to go up to that number for us. more

Today in this 1997 Chevrolet CK series pickup, we're going to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake controller, part number 90195. Now to help us with our install, we're also going to use part number ETBC7. This is Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers. This is what the P3 Brake Controller looks like installed in the typical location. The main thing about our brake controller here is it's a proportional brake controller. That means it has sensors on the inside that can tell how hard you're hitting your brake, and it'll match how hard you're hitting your brake and send that proportionately to your trailer out back. Now the insides of our brake controller are automatically leveling. more
Today on our 1996 Chevy CK Pickup truck, we'll be installing the ETB C7 in junction with the Tekonsha Progigy P3 Brake Controller which is part number 90195. We will first begin by picking a location where we're going to mount our 7-way trailer plug. In this case because the trailer hitch comes out so far, we're going to go ahead and drill two small holes in the underside of the bumper to mount our bracket. Once we have the holes drilled, we'll go ahead and use the supplied screws and nuts to attach the bracket to the lower bumper. Next we'll go ahead and take some of the wire looms supplied with the kit and put it over the wires coming out of the back of the 7-way. Then we'll go ahead and feed the 7-way onto the bracket and attach it with the supplied screws and nuts. Next, we're going to go ahead and make the 4-way connection with the 4-way that's already on the vehicle and because this vehicle already had a 4-way on it, we've already gone ahead and tested it to make sure that everything is working properly. You want to make sure when making your connection of the two 4-ways that you use some dielectric grease on the connection before pushing them together. more

Now to begin our installation we will need to locate the wiring in the vehicle. It is usually found tied underneath the dash somewhere around the steering column. We will simply pull it down where we can identify the wires. Using the owners manual we now know that the red wire with the black tracer is our power wire. First off well go ahead and look for the existing towing harness thats underneath the dash. Most of the time its hanging down a little bit from the regular wires, so its pretty easy to find. Well go ahead and point it out to you and then pull it gently down to get the wires away from the rest of the harness, and then well go ahead and install the wire harness from the brake controller. Well go ahead and strip our wires back and then add our butt connectors. more

Okay, first thing we need to do is go ahead and get access to a tow package port. In this case, it's going to be underneath the dash on the left hand side in the junction box right behind the break pedal. So there's a plastic nut that we have to remove and we can go ahead and pop off the cover. Go ahead and remove this nut in the center and we'll go ahead and work the cover off. more

Today on our 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 we're going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195. Now here's what our P3 brake controller looks like. We get a couple different options for mounting it. We can use the standard metal bracket style or we can use the metal and plastic combination. This one here will allows you to remove the brake controller when you're not using it, but because it is out of plastic it is not quite as durable as our metal one here. Now this particular vehicle here is a work truck so we're going to go ahead and install the metal bracket to give us a little better chances of the brake controller staying connected onto the lower dash where we'll be putting it. Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be installing the conscious prodigy P3 trailer brake controller. With this we'll be using to conscious plugin wiring adapter. This is a premium trailer brake controller. It's going to allow you to proportionally apply the brakes on your trailer depending on how quickly you're stopping here in the vehicle. It uses an inertia sensor inside so the harder you stop inside the inner sensor detects it and applies the brakes appropriately to match that on your trailer. Your output can be adjusted here on the left and you can select through various boost settings with the button on the top right. more

We can press any button to bring up our LED display screen, and use the up and down functions to scroll through the menu, setting the power setup, color display, or even brake type. Here's what our display screen will look like when we do not have our trailer connected. Let's go ahead and connect our trailer. Immediately with our trailer connected, we can see our display screen will come up. Here we can adjust the gain, which is the amount of power being sent to our trailer brakes from maximum, all the way down to the minimum that we set it at. more
2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller: Complete Installation- Video
Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, were going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller part number 90195. The first thing we need to do is find a suitable location for our mounting bracket. You'll want to make sure before you start mounting the bracket to the vehicle, that you check to make sure that there are no electrical components behind where you're going to mount it. Were clear on the back of this plastic tab and theres the metal structure here for our dash that we'll also be drilling in to. This is going to provide a secure mount for our brake controller. Next well use the small machine screws that came with our brake controller with the lock washers on them to mount the controller to the bracket. more
Today we're working on a 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer. We're going to install the Tekonsha P-3 Brake Controller, product number 90195. Our first step is to remove the lower kick panel. There are several fasteners that will have to be removed. Ok, with our kick panel lowered we need to locate the manufacturer's wiring that we're going to connect to. This white tag is the indicator that we're looking for and then you can see the taped off ends here taped up to the manufacturer's harness. more
Today on this 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with factory installed tow package we are going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller part number 90195. The first thing I want to note before we do our installation is what exactly the factory 7-pole looks like on the back of the Trailblazer that is going to indicate whether or not this vehicle has the wires underneath the dash to hook the brake controller into. Looking at the rear bumper area here you can see the factory installed 7-pole is kind of underneath mounted at an angle and again it is mounted to the factory hitch as well. On the lid itself there is the GM logo printed on it, that is a kind of cut and dry indicator right there as well. If you have the factory 7-pole you will have the wires under the dash to hook your brake controller to, if you do not you are likely going to have to do a manual hardwire of the brake controller and you will need to purchase some other components. 00:50 more

Today on our 2007 Chrysler Aspen, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195. We'll be installing that in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for brake controllers, part number 3020-P. This brake controller is going to do a really good job of making sure you've got proportional braking to the trailer that's behind you. So however much pressure you apply to the brakes on the vehicle, it's going to give you that same amount of braking power back to the trailer. It will work with trailers that have one to four axles of brakes, so just about any size trailer that you may have, this will work well with is. A lot of our customers like that you can change the screen color, to select whatever you would like. Overall, this brake controller is just going to do a really good job of making sure that, whatever trailer you've got behind you, that you're going to have the braking power that you need. Right now, when we've got this read out right here, that lets us know that it's connected to a trailer, because there's a little image of a truck with a small trailer behind it. Then over here, the up and down buttons will allow us to adjust our gain. more
Today on our 2015 Chrysler Town and Country, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, and to help us with our installation, we're going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers. Here's what our brake controller looks like once we have it installed. It's going to have a really nice, easy-to-read display, so we can know exactly what's going on with our trailer. Now the Prodigy P3 was going to be a proportional brake controller, which means that it's going to have a sensor inside the brake controller that's going to sense the slowing down of our van, and apply the brakes accordingly. That's going to be a big benefit over the time delayed ones, which basically uses a pre-set time that the brake controller waits, and then it applies the brakes up to the maximum power. This is going to give us a nice, even smooth action. more

Today on this 2009 Dodge Dakota, were gonna install a Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller part number 90195 along with an ETBC7 Kit.First I wanna install my 7-pole connector. Theres a bracket thats part of the ETBC7 kit that will assist us but were gonna add an additional bracket to the tow-ready universal long mount bracket part number 118136.Now were gonna take our clamp and were gonna tighten it down directly to the hitch.With my bracket secured and mounted, Im just gonna take a pair of tin snips and cutoff the extra from the band. With our bracket securely mounted, well go ahead and install the 7-pole connector.As you can see, we no longer need the 4-pole extension so Ill go ahead and remove that plug directly into the manufacturers harness.Well have our white wire here with a ring terminal, were gonna locate a ground. Our blue wire is gonna be the signal wire thats gonna come from our brake controller and our black wire will be our power supply that comes directly from our battery. The purple wire remaining is gonna be for our reverse lights on your trailer but well not be hooking up on this application.Lets go ahead and find a suitable location and ground the white wire.You see, weve chosen a location here in the bottom of the frame. Were gonna use a self-tapping screw to install it.With my ground wire installed, Im now gonna pull out the gray duplex wire that comes in our ETBC7 kit. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. This proportional controller works for one up to four axles. It's part number is 90105. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter, part number 3045-P. The manual override lever here on the bottom is a very convenient way to supply power back to your trailer without having to hit the brakes in your vehicle. We've got our gain adjustment here and wherever we've got that set, you can see we're at about 7.2 there; we can go up to 7.2. This manual override is at no time going to overpower the brakes back on the trailer. more

Today with this 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, part number 90195 and the custom fit brake control harness for this vehicle, part number 3023-P. The first thing we need to do is set our mounting bracket for our controller. Pick a suitable location that won't be in the way of the driver's knees, but will allow easy access to the manual override switch on the bottom of the controller. Once you've found a location for the bracket, make sure that there are no electrical components behind it before you secure it with the included screws.With our controller in place, we'll move on to the brake control harness. The next thing we need to do is find the electrical connections up underneath the dash of our Ram pickup. The first connection we need to make is the large square connector on the harness. more
