Beginner’s Guide to Installing the K-Source Universal Towing Mirror on a 2000 Dodge Dakota

Today on our 2000 Dodge Dakota, we're going to be doing a test fit of the K-Source Universal Towing Mirror, part number KS3891. They do have the fully adjustable mirror front lens, that's going to be about the same size as your ordinary truck lens, or vehicle, or car lens. They do also have the adjustable elbows, which adjust and accommodate to almost any size mirror. Say even your bigger, older-style vehicles that have the big mirrors, you could adjust this to where it fits sideways, to fit those vehicles as well. You can also adjust it to fit your lower, more economic, compact cars, like so, and that would hang off the vehicle. We're going to go about showing you how everything goes on, between the pivoting arms and elbows, to the straps, buckles, and clamps, that are on these. First thing we're going to want to do is slide the ledge here over our mirror ledge on this side. Some are a little more difficult than others, just because the mirror comes out farther. more

Today on our 2003 Dodge Dakota we'll be test fitting the draw-tite ball mount with a 3/4-inch rise or 2-inch drop rated at 7,500 pounds, part number 2923. Before we begin our test fit, we will firstly obtain the hitch height of our vehicle which is the measurement from the ground to the inside top of the receiver tube. The hitch height for this vehicle is 15-1/4 inches. Keep in mind this measurement may vary due to tire size, hitch style or after market accessories. We'll now begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount in the drop position into the opening of the hitch and securing with the pin and clip. We'll then measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform, and we'll get a measurement of about 12-3/4 inches. If your vehicle's hitch height matches our's and your trailer's ride height matches this measurement this should be an appropriate ball mount for you. We can now flip the ball mount over to the rise position and again measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform, and we'll get a measurement of about 16 inches. Once again if your trailer's ride height matches this measurement, this would be an appropriate ball mount for you. That will complete today's test fit for the draw-tite ball mount with a 3/4-inch rise or a 2-inch drop rated at 7,500 pounds, part number 2923 on our 2003 Dodge Dakota. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Dodge Dakota

Today on this 2006 Dodge Dakota we are going to install Curt wiring harness part number 55323. The wiring harness that we are going to be installing plugs in directly behind the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. So, the first thing we are going to do for our installation is go ahead and remove both of the taillights. To do that, we need to go ahead and the tailgate down. If you look on the inboard side, you can see that there are two screws that are holding the taillight in place. And again that is the same on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. So I am going to start my installation off over here on the passenger side of the vehicle. Go ahead and remove the two full length screws. And with the two outboard side screws removed, there are two push fasteners on the inside of the lights. So, you want to be careful when removing it. Gently rock it back and forth until you get those to release. 0:50 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Dodge Dakota 55323

Today on this 2006 Dodge Dakota, we are going to install part number 55323 from Curt. The wire harness does plug in behind the taillights. So, the first thing that we need to do is go ahead and remove the taillights. We are going to start on the driver side and work our way over to the passenger side. We are going to remove these two screws on the side right here. Looking at the light here, the top section is the part we need to disconnect two little tabs on each side here and here. Push those tabs in and the connector comes apart. Now we can start installing the T-connector. We are going to use the yellow end. That will be for the left hand side. So let us go ahead and just plug that back together. And they are also keyed, so make sure they go in the right way. And you just push them back together until they make a clicking noise. And these fit in between the wire harness in the vehicle and the taillight. 1:02 more

Craftec Vinyl Tonneau Cover for Short-Bed Pickups Review- Video

Craftec Vinyl Tonneau Cover for Short-Bed Pickups Review

Today we are going to install part number 352730SC from Craftec. What this is, is a vinyl tonneau cover, and we are going to install this on a 2007 Dodge Dakota short-bed pickup. There are a lot of components to this install, but it is not too bad if you break it down into simple little sub-assemblies, as the instructions describe. We will cover some of the parts first to give you an idea of what is going on. First off, we have got these corner pieces here. These corner pieces cover the actual metal corners on the tonneau cover frame itself. We have hardware that threads into the aluminum pieces that actually make their own threads as they go in. We have our latch assemblies right here these work inside the tonneau cover. When you close it and you twist it, it catches underneath the edge of the bed itself. A pull strap to pull it down when the cover is above your head. And these are the clamps that go into the frame and on the bed that your gas shocks mount into. And these are attaching points that go into the track into the frame. You have got the bows to go into that create the bow effect on your tonneau cover, and the the bows are located right here. These are the rails themselves. These are the parts that go longways on the truck, and this part and this part are the ones that go across the truck. Some bed lengths require an extension. In this situation, the bed is so short you do not even have to worry about that. These are the metal corner pieces right here that actually get the frame bolted together and locked into place. And these little angle brackets here will eventually hold the hinge part of the tonneau cover, and also one-half of that will get clamped into place onto the bed itself. Lastly, we have the tonneau cover itself. One good tip about this is if you keep it warm overnight so it stays nice and pliable, that makes it a lot easier to work with. more
