Review of Roadmaster Tow Bars RM-583

Speaker 1: Today we're looking at the Road-Master Stow Master Tow bar. This tow bar lets you tow your vehicle safely and securely behind your motor home. It has a weight capacity of 6,000 pounds. The lunette ring attaches to your pencil hitch for a secure connection. It's really great for off road applications. This has an inner diameter of 3 inches.

The unit features a large hook-up radius which makes connecting really easy, pretty much at any angle, even if you vehicle isn't perfectly lined up with your RV.It also comes with a quick disconnect system. So this lets you quickly and easily mount the tow bar to your towed vehicle. The quick disconnect brackets on the tow bar match up with the brackets that attach to the base plates. And they're held in place with the included pins and clip. Now once installed you can quickly and easily attached the tow bar to the quick disconnect system, which again is included with this tow bar system. The unit also features a self aligning design, meaning all you have to do is hook it up, drive your RV forward, these arms will extend into rigid tow ready position and automatically lock in place.

To disengage or to make the inner arm slide into the outer arm, you just push down on this tab here, and that would allow the inner arm to slide back in or retract into the outer arm here. But again once you're hooked up, you drive forward, these arms will extend and they'll lock into place. The unit features extra long telescoping arms, which allow for a lot more versatility as well as easier towing. The stainless steel construction of the inner arms allow for smooth operation and we also have safety straps inside each arm that provides extra security in case the latches ever malfunction. We all have the full length crossbar with an angle arm brace to provide maximum strength and support. We're looking at a strong corrosion resistant tow bar system.

This unit built to last for a very long time.FEA testing guarantees a strong finished product. The self-lubricated nylon bushings, which are located right here, where the inner arm slides into the outer arm, those are designed to eliminate friction between the arms. So that's going to provide a longer lasting, better functioning system. And then we have the welded steel plugs which seal the ends of the tow bar to guard the internal components, keeping everything safe from rust and corrosion. And then it's finished with a nice high-tech powder coated finish to provide additional durability. It also offers simple secure storage alongside the vehicle.

So when you're done using it, all you have to do is fold up the tow bar and secure it using the collar under the coupler, which is located right here. That collar engages this pin. So basically what happens is you disengage the arms. This one will slide over and then the whole tow bar will go over to that side of the unit and engage that pin right there. The product's made in the USA. When it comes to the compatibility, it's designed to work with most Road-Master EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL and Classic vehicle specific base plates. Just please keep in mind this will not work with the MX, MS or EZ5 base plates. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Road-Master Stow Master Tow bar.
