Review of Master Lock Hitch Locks 2866DAT

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a Swivel Head Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches. This trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of a standard pin and clip to prevent theft of your ball mount or accessories, such as cargo carriers and bike racks. We're looking at a patented stainless steel swivel head. This is designed to rotate 360 degrees for easy access. It also has the brass keyway with aluminum casing that conveniently faces towards you, not off to the side. The unit also features a key-retaining design. What that does is it prevents false locks, so the key of the unit cannot be removed from the lock body unless the lock is fully engaged and fully secure. To unlock it, you just rotate it.

It pops right off. Then it features a push-to-lock mechanism that makes locking easy. So, with the key installed, you can take the lock body, push it onto the end of the pin, and if it's locked correctly, the keys will just slide right out. But it clicks into place so you can feel it and you can hear that it's locked and engaged. The lock body itself has a rubberized coating. Makes it easy to handle and protects the lock body if it's dropped.

It does come with two different size pins, so both pin sizes are included. That way, the lock will work with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. We have a 1/2" diameter pin and a 5/8" diameter pin. We're looking at a corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction. We also have the weather-resistant, snap-on cover that keeps dirt and moisture out of the keyway. Keys are included.

Again, this is designed for 1-1/4" by 1-1/4", and 2" by 2" trailer hitch receivers. For the 2", you would use the 5/8" diameter pin. For the 1-1/4" receivers, you would use the 1/2" diameter pin.The span, or the usable pin length, measures the same on each pin. From the lock body to the curve gives us a usable pin length of 2-3/4". I'll go ahead and put that on the other one just to double check and be sure that we have that same span, and we do, so usable pin length or span is 2-3/4" on each unit. Also, I want to point out that at the end of the pin, we do have a small little O-ring here that functions as a seal, which keeps dirt and grime out of this point right here, which is where the pin inserts into the lock body.

This product's also covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Swivel Head Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches from Master Lock. Speaker 2: inaudible 00:03:06.
