The white wire from the P3 needs to be run to the negative post on the battery. The red wire on the P3 needs to go up to the wire on the stop light switch that goes hot when you press the brake pedal. |

When wiring the red wire from the brake controller you will find that the white/black wire at the factory brake controller connection point that you found is the brake light input wire that can be used to splice the red wire from the brake controller to. |

If the brake controller is working properly, you should get approximately 12 volts on the blue wire with the manual knob activated. The red wire should not have power. The purpose of the red wire is to receive a signal from the stop light switch to tell the brake controller when you step on the brake pedal. |
