How to Identify Pin Box Brand and Part Number for Selecting a Replacement Reese Goose Box

Question:

How do I find out what kind of pinbox I have? I need to know that before I buy this 20k capacity Reese GooseBox to see if it will fit

We offer three Reese Goose Box replacement pin boxes, like the part # RP85FR that you referenced. Each of these will serve as a direct bolt-on replacement for 2 or more OEM pin box types. On the page for each box we list the compatible OEM pin box numbers. Once you find your pin box manufacturer and part number just compare that to the parts listed on each page to find the correct replacement.

A Reese Goose Box is the best method for adapting a 5th wheel trailer to a tow vehicle that is equipped with a gooseneck hitch. Although there are other types of products to do this, only a Reese Goose Box avoids the additional stress on the trailer's frame that is introduced by all other types. Other types of adapters can actually void the warranty on your coach's frame. The linked articles will give you additional details.

5th wheel pin boxes usually have a sticker on their left side to indicate the manufacturer name and part number. For example, among the most common pin boxes in use today is a Lippert 1621.

I would love to purchase a Reese goose box. I took a pic of pin box sticker. Can not find the 4 digit number. It’s lippert chassis model number 277720 with SN# 019-000416939. What is the lippert part number. So I can decide which Reese gooseneck box to buy?

I reached out to my contact at Lippert and based on the numbers you found (thank you!) he was able to identify the pin box as a 1621 model. This means the Goose Box # RP94720 Adam mentioned above will work perfectly!

@ChrisR Hey I just recently purchased a new fifth wheel. I want to switch to the Reese Goosebox. I had one on my previous camper and loved it. I tried to correspond the sn# to the Lippert website but I came up short. I was wondering if you could offer some advice. I have a Lippert Rhino Box SN# S005798721. Thank you for any help you can provide.

@ChrisR I am trying to purchase a Reese Goosebox for my 2004 Sierra Sandpiper but I'm having trouble identifying if they will work for my trailer. The only identification on the kingpin is the VIN for the trailer 4X4FSAH294C016664. Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to purchase a Reese Goosebox for my 5th Wheel however I too cannot find a 4 digit number like the 1621. What I do have is from the sticker and reads as follows: LC126-0030628 If you can find any information to help me make the proper purchase I would be grateful. Need this item as soon as possible! I reached out to my contact at Lippert and she said that she will need either the item number or serial number as well as the date of manufacture found on the sticker. Unfortunately the number you found doesn't give her any info on identifying your pin box number.

@JonG the only other sticker on the current hitch has faded beyond the ability to read it. The 5th wheel is a 2005 Keystone Cougar Model #281EFS.

@KimS No worries! Even without knowing the exact model of pin box we can still figure out what you have by either contacting the manufacturer with your VIN or using the linked help article to take measurements of our pin box. If you end up taking the measurements just let me know what you found and I can make a recommendation based off of that.

Also looking to switch to a Reese goose box but unfortunately Lippert do not print numbers anywhere on the pin box that I can correspond to what it says it is compatible with. My existing box is item number 429600 and serial number S001969721. Are you able to find out which goose box I need to order?

I reached out to Lippert and with the info you gave me he said that you have a 1621 pin box so the Reese Goose Box # RP94720 is what you're needing.

I’m also looking for different options. I purchased a 2022 Jayco eagle ht. Item number 2021019089 mfg 9/10/21. Will Reese goose box 94920 work
