Correct 5th Airborne and Sidewinder for Lippert Pin Box 1116

Question:

I have lippert pin box model # lipp1116. I have a short bed truck. Will the turn clearance inprove and will part #5AB-E510-710 bolt to my camper

If your truck bed is shorter than 6 feet, I recommend using a sidewinder. The 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler, # 5AB-E510-710, will not work with the Lippert 1116. There currently is not an extended pin box option for the Lippert 1116.

The 5th Airborne and Sidewinder that will fit the Lippert 1116 pin box is the 5th Airborne with Sidewinder Premium Fifth Wheel Air-Ride Coupler for Short Bed Trucks, # RP61412. To figure out the clearance, there are some measurements you can make that will show you what you will achieve with a sidewinder.

Clearance Formula for Sidewinder: Use the formula below to ensure there will be enough space between your truck cab and trailer when executing a 90-degree turn.
(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B = Length of Sidewinder arm (16K = 22 inches, 19K = 22 inches, 19.5K = 22 inches)
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)
