How Much Water Does the Hike Crew Portable Camping Shower Use Per Minute?

Published 11/04/2026

Question:

My wife and I do quite a bit of camping where there aren't any shower facilities, so we've been looking for something portable to rinse off after hiking. I came across the Hike Crew Handheld Shower HK35FR and noticed it has a flow rate of 0.9 gallons per minute. I'm trying to figure out how much water we'd actually need to bring along. If we had a 5 gallon bucket of water, about how long could we shower before running out? And is the water pressure decent enough to rinse shampoo out of your hair?

Hey Jason! With the Hike Crew Outdoor Handheld Shower # HK35FR, a 5 gallon bucket of water would give you about 5 1/2 minutes of continuous shower time. It uses just 0.9 gallons per minute, which is pretty nice when you're camping somewhere without running water. And if you shut the water off while you're soaping up, you can make that 5 gallons last quite a bit longer.

As far as the pressure goes, it gives you a steady, gentle stream that's great for rinsing off after a hike or washing shampoo out of your hair. Just don't expect quite the same pressure you'd get from your shower at home. The rechargeable battery lasts around 70 to 80 minutes per charge, so you'll likely run out of water long before you run out of battery. I also like the built in LED light for those evenings when you're cleaning up after dark.

Are you planning to use a 5 gallon bucket for your water, or do you have a larger container in mind?
