Question:
Hello, I have a 2024 gmc 2500 with the Duramax diesel and curb weight is between 8-8.5k. I’m setting it up to flat tow behind my super C, and I’ve gotten everything so far from you all but have a question regarding the tow bar. I see you stock a 10k, 12.5k and a 15k tow bar I need blue ox base plate compatible. I was initially thinking the 10k would do the job but then read the 15k was for HD trucks with diesels. The 12.5k is more expensive than the 15k so that doesn’t make sense financially, I’d just go up and get the 15k if needed. My question is can I get by with the 10k tow bar or do I need one with more capacity?

Hey Nic, thanks for reaching out. You are thinking about this the right way. The 10K tow bar would be cutting it pretty close weight capacity wise, so I agree going with a 12.5K or 15K tow bar is the way to go. From there, the correct selection will really just depend on your trucks hitch receiver size. The 12.5K Blue Ox tow bar # BLU22CR fits a 2" hitch, while the 15K # BX7470 is for a 2-1/2" receiver.
If I am not mistaken, your 2024 GMC 2500 should have a 2-1/2" receiver, so the 15K # BX7470 will be the right choice for that. With tow bars there isn't any downside to having extra weight capacity, so the 15K is definitely what I recommend.
Are you needing any other parts for your flat tow setup?
