Hey Bob! The DeeZee Red Label Utility Chest # DZ48PJ has a sturdy aluminum construction, but DeeZee doesn't recommend standing or stepping on the lid of this utility chest. The lid isn't designed to support a person's weight, and doing so could damage it.
What kind of truck do you have? We may have other options that can support weight as a step available if you can give me some more information.

I have a truck camper with only a 4" landing as I step out which holds the scissor stairs. I wanted to increasing the landing to something bigger. I got the idea of using a tool box as the landing which would also provide a few extra cubic feet of storage. The box has to be less than 56" wide and about 12" wide so it does not stick out too far. The DeeZee chest was the perfect size. but the metal did look a little thin for a step.
