Reducing Rear End Sag On 2027 Ram 1500 Towing Travel Trailer

Updated 10/29/2026 | Published 10/28/2026

Question:

I have a 2027 Ram 1500 with the factory coil spring suspension. We tow a smaller travel trailer, and the truck handles it fine, but I notice the rear end squats a little when we're hooked up. I'm not looking to make any major suspension changes, just want to help keep the truck level. What would you recommend?

Hey Brian! I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS47UJ for your 2027 Ram 1500. These will help reduce that rear end squat you're experiencing when towing your travel trailer without having to make any major changes to your suspension.

The SumoSprings provide progressive support, so they compress as more weight is added and help keep your truck level. They're also maintenance-free, so you won't have to worry about adjusting air pressure or running air lines like you would with air bags. They also won't destroy your unloaded ride quality when you aren't towing or hauling.

What kind of travel trailer are you towing?

Thanks Robin! We're towing a 21-foot travel trailer that weighs around 4,500 lbs loaded. We already use a weight distribution hitch. Will the SumoSprings work with that, or would they interfere with each other?

@Brian yes, the SumoSprings # SS47UJ will work alongside your weight distribution hitch without interfering. Just make sure to check and readjust your weight distribution hitch after installing the SumoSprings since they will change how your truck sits when hooked up.
