Kodiak Disc Brake Kit for 10K to 12K Trailer Axles With Existing Hubs

Updated 10/28/2026 | Published 10/27/2026

Question:

I'm replacing the disc brakes on my equipment trailer with 10,000 lb Dexter axles. The hubs are still in good condition, so I'd rather not replace those too. It has 8-lug wheels with 5/8 inch bolts. Do you have a Kodiak kit with just the rotors, calipers, and brackets for one axle?

Hey James! I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # KD598FR for your equipment trailer. This kit is designed for 10,000 to 12,000 lb axles with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern, 5/8" wheel studs, and a 7-bolt brake flange.

Since the hubs are sold separately, you can reuse your existing hubs if they're compatible and in good condition. Dexter recommends Dexter or Kodiak hubs, which you likely have unless they have been replaced with another brand.

What kind of equipment are you hauling?

Mostly skid steers and compact tractors. I'm planning to replace the brake lines while I'm doing the brakes. My trailer is a tandem axle with about a 20' run from the actuator to the axles. Do you have a complete line kit that would work?

@James yes, I recommend the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 20TA-BLKIT for your tandem-axle trailer if the 20' main line is the right length for your setup. It includes the flexible brake hoses, fittings, and hardware needed to run the lines to both axles.
