E-Bike Rack Recommendation for Rear of Travel Trailer Camper

Updated 10/27/2026 | Published 10/26/2026

Question:

Why wouldnt the HLY64FR Hollywood 1700 work on a camper trailer? 2027 Keystone Cougar the rear hitch has a 2inch receiver with a 300lbs limit. My e-bikes with Batteries removed would only 70lbs. total.

Hey Mark, this is a really good question but the ride quality at the rear of a travel trailer is rougher than at the rear of a vehicle so that added stress potentially fatigues the metal of the rack and would cause it to fail. I know that's odd to hear if you also noticed that you can use it with fifth wheel hitches and motorhomes but that is the requirement that Hollywood Racks has.

The most similar e-bike rack we have that can be used at the rear of a travel trailer is the Yakima OnRamp part # Y88DJ which also has the benefit of having a ramp system built into it to help loading and unloading it. This rack has an 80 lb per bike capacity as well. What e-bikes do you have?

@JamesonC The dual axle are heavy duty 4,400lbs with ABS Brakes. High Performance Road Armor shock absorbing equalizer. Bronze bushings, heavy duty 1/2 shackle plates and wet bolts to extend axle longevity. Goodyear Endurance 10 ply E-Rated tires. 2” rear accessory receiver with 300lbs. Storage capacity. With these specifications I believe the movements in the rear is no more than a motor home or fifth wheel.
