Where Does the Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer Mount on a 2023 Ford F-53/Forest River Georgetown?

Question:

Hi, I purchased the Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer with the kit for my 2023 Forest River Georgetown GT5 34M. The instructions state that it must be installed on the back side of the front axle. Does this mean that the anchor bracket has to be installed on the passenger side? Thank you

Hey Beverly, welcome back! No, the anchor bracket actually mounts on the driver's side, not the passenger side, on your 2023 Forest River Georgetown GT5 34M with the Ford F-53 chassis. When the instructions say to install the Safe-T-Plus behind the front axle, they're referring to its position toward the rear of the motorhome, not which side of the axle the bracket attaches to.

For your setup, the anchor bracket attaches to the rear U-bolt of the driver's-side front leaf spring, while the tie-rod bracket attaches toward the passenger side. The stabilizer then runs across behind the front axle. That's the correct mounting arrangement for the F-217K3.5 hardware kit used with your 41-230 stabilizer.

Is the anchor bracket giving you trouble, or are you just making sure everything is positioned correctly?

@BeverleyP The important thing is that the stabilizer mounts behind the front axle, with the anchor bracket on the driver's side. I wouldn't force anything into place if the bracket isn't lining up correctly. Can you tell me exactly where you're running into trouble? Is the bracket not lining up with the U-bolts, or does it seem like it's facing the wrong direction?
