Hey Sherrie, the seats on the Thomas Payne #TP38KR are contoured rather than completely flat. The seat cushions have raised/bolstered edges with a slightly recessed seating area, and the backs are also shaped with light lumbar support. Basically each seat is contoured like an individual recliner.
