Question:
Does the DZ48PJ need to be bolted through the truck bed, or is there a way to secure it without drilling into the bed floor?

Hey Brad, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the DeeZee Utility Chest # DZ48PJ is designed to be secured through the truck bed floor for a normal truck-bed installation. Since it is a universal chest, there is not a vehicle-specific clamp system that grabs the bed rails like you get with a crossover toolbox.
If you want a no-drill setup, you will need to fabricate or use a separate mounting system that ties into existing factory bed attachment points. DeeZee does offer # DZ42DJ for attaching this chest to certain L-shaped DeeZee transfer tanks without drilling into the tank, but that kit is not a universal no-drill truck-bed mount.
What will you be keeping inside the chest mostly?
