Will the DeeZee DZ48PJ sit low enough in a pickup bed to close a tonneau cover over it, and how much clearance is needed above the 8-3/8inch box height?

Hey Pete!

Yes, definitely. The DeeZee Red Label Low-Profile Utility Chest # DZ48PJ mounts to the floor of the truck bed up by the cab, and stays completely out of the way for a tonneau cover or ladder rack to be installed. It's only 8-3/8" tall so you can measure 8-3/8" up from your bed floor and that is where it will be. Tonneau covers sit level with the top of the bed rails for the most part (varies a couple inches), so you should have more than enough room.
