Filling a Kodiak Oil Bath Disc Brake Hub and Oil Compatibility
Question:
Is it OK to use SAE 75W-140 Amsoil Server Gear lube in my 13inch oil filled hubs? Also is the correct amount of fill to the bottom of fill hole? I have my 5th wheeler trailer setting for 5 months, do I need to jack up the axels every once in a while and spin the wheels? Thank you very much for your reply

I spoke with my contact at Kodiak and he said Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140 would be acceptable on their oil bath hubs. When filling the hubs, you will want to remove the rubber plug from the oil cap and fill the hub to the bottom of the hole.
When storing a trailer, it is a good ideal to jack up the trailer to remove some or all of the weight off of the tires. This may not always be possible, especially with larger trailers, but it is a good idea. My contact at Kodiak said you should not have to rotate the wheels when it is in storage if you are using oil with a thicker consistency, but some of our other hub and drum manufacturers recommend rotating the wheels about once a month.
If you will not be near the trailer when it is in storage, I recommend rotating the wheels once you fill the hubs to coat the bearings with a layer of oil.
