Can Curt Alumalite Ball Mount Be Flipped and Stowed Underneath Hitch

Updated 08/13/2026 | Published 08/03/2026

Question:

Before I order, can the Curt Alumalite be flipped out of the way when I'm not towing? I leave my adjustable ball mount in the truck most of the time and don't want the balls sticking straight out behind the bumper. So like, the BW tow and stow style?

Hey Cody! Yes, that's one of the nice features of the Curt Alumalite. The ball platform can be moved around to the back of the shank so it sits underneath the receiver when you aren't towing instead of sticking out behind the truck. It isn't quite the same as the Tow & Stow design but it is the same concept. You can choose from the following Alumalite models based on drop:

-Curt Alumalite Aluminum Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 6" Drop # C34FR75HY

-Curt Alumalite Aluminum Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 8" Drop # C34FR65HY

-Curt Alumalite Aluminum Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 10" Drop # C34FR23HY

I would still remove the entire ball mount if you're leaving the truck parked somewhere for an extended period, especially if you aren't using a locking hitch pin like # WS54CR to keep it secure.

What kind of truck do you have and what are you towing?
