Question:

Hello, Im looking into replacing my fifth-wheel hitch with a Gen Y Nomad hitch. My question is that Im not sure which model of Gen Y Nomad I need for my trailer. I currently have a Reese Revolution on my trailer, and the VIN is 4X4FRLD2XD1849138. Thank you

Hey Ben, thanks for the information! To replace your Reese Revolution 5th wheel hitch with a Gen-Y Nomad 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box like item # GY57ND, I am going to need some additional information from you. The Reese Revolution's fit quite a few different pin box bolt patterns and that information is not accessible from your 5th wheel trailer's VIN.

I'm going to need the information on the sticker that's attached to the bracket above your current pin box. The sticker should say date of manufacture, weight capacity, and have some form of RPO, LCI, or serial number on it. If you could email me a picture of it or carefully put all that information where it says Add Comment, I can find the right Nomad pin box for you.

Regardless of what bolt pattern your Revolution has, you will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

Do you see any part or serial numbers on your Revolution pin box? I can also try to identify it that way.

You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

Hey Ben. I just got the picture you sent in. You have a Reese Revolution vhd-10K-22sw Reese Revolution pin box that was a factory fit that is not offered in a replaceable option. Due to the smaller width and mounting style there is no way to replace it with an aftermarket pin box.
