Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2024 Nissan Kicks to Carry 2 Mountain Bikes

Question:

Subject: Compatibility Inquiry – 2024 Nissan Kicks e-POWER Mexico Hitch for Bike Rack Dear etrailer Support Team, I am looking for a trailer hitch receiver for my vehicle and would appreciate your assistance in identifying the correct model. Vehicle information: * Year: 2024 * Make: Nissan * Model: Kicks e-POWER Exclusive * Market: Mexico * VIN: MNTFP5CP7R6012015 Purpose: I do not intend to tow a trailer. The hitch will be used exclusively to carry a platform-style bike rack with two Specialized Rockhopper 29” mountain bikes. I previously purchased and installed an aftermarket hitch from Amazon, but it sat too low beneath the vehicle and scraped on speed bumps and driveway entrances. Because of this experience, I am looking for the hitch that provides the best possible ground clearance for my vehicle. Could you please help me with the following? 1. Do you offer a hitch that is compatible with my 2024 Nissan Kicks e-POWER Mexico? 2. If so, which model do you recommend for carrying two mountain bikes? 3. Is a 2-inch receiver available or recommended for this application? 4. If no direct-fit hitch is available, do you know of any compatible solution or alternative? Thank you very much for your assistance. I look forward to your recommendation. Best regards, Paulo Rivera

Hi Paulo,

The only trailer hitch receiver that we have as a fit for your 2024 Nissan Kicks is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I part # C11563 that is rated for 2,000lbs towing and 200lbs of tongue weight. However, this hitch is a Class I hitch with a 1 1/4" opening, if you intended to use it with a bike rack with a 2" receiver tube, you'll need to use an adapter like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Adapter 1 1/4" to 2" part # e93YR. When using an adapter, it reduces the tongue weight of the hitch by 50%, this means the C11563's new tongue weight would be 100lbs. With the weight of the bike rack and the two mountain bikes, I expect you would exceed this tongue weight which could damage to the hitch or vehicle frame. Your best option would be to find a bike rack that fits within a 1 1/4" hitch and is light weight. I recommend using something like the Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes part # S64671. It has a removable adapter sleeve to fit 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, only weighs 30lbs, and can hold two bikes weighing up to 35lbs per bike. It also comes with a threaded anti-rattle hitch pin that helps reduce movement and noise while driving.

Where do you usually ride your mountain bikes at?
