Will Swagman XC Recumbent Bike Rack Work to Transport Tour Easy Recumbent

Question:
I have a tour easy recumbent. In looking at your QandAs i see that the S64650-EXT will work for the Tour easy recumbent. I am not sure how wheel base is measured but I am assuming it is from front an back wheel hub which is 69. So if it does work for my Tour Easy, my actual question is does the XTC wheel hoops 69inch wheel base come with the S64650 or do they need to be ordered separately?

Hey David, you did measure correct for the wheelbase of your Tour Easy recumbent so it does have a 69 inch wheelbase which also happens to be the wheelbase max that the Swagman XC-Extended Bike Rack for 2 Recumbent Bikes # S64650-EXT can work with if you use the gray wheel hoops so it would work great for you. These wheel hoops do for sure come with the bike rack so you would not need to order them separately.

Yes, your tour easy will fit. I have a Gold Rush and it fits fine...sort of. I have a '95 VW Golf and those bies with the wheels on them are much longer that the car is wide which leaves your vulnerable wheels sticking out on either side. As the front wheel will come off easily, and taking the wheel off shortens the bike, I put a fork clamp with a locking skewer onto one side pf the rack and adjusted the position of the bike to fit. I still have a little bit of wheel sticking out but not muck. Overall it is a good rack, it does tend to tilt to the rear when loaded. Not significantly, but it is noticeable with one bike, and two of them will make it worse. I am sure you will be able to find a way to support it, I use a old bracket from a rear bumper bike hitch that originally clipped onto the front of the trunk lid to keep the rack from hanging down to the rear. I hook it onto the top gap in the rear hatch, problem solved.
