Is There a Shorter D-Seal for Boat Hatch Than # 3691725?

Question:
I have a 2007 sea ray Sundancer 260 that needs the d-seal top hatch replaced. The hatch is a Taylor Made hatch with a d shaped seal. I purchased Taylor Made d-seal part number 1725 and it is to tall, the width is correct but the hatch will not lock with the taller seal. Does Taylor made make a shorter version of the 1725. Or what is the replacement seal for my hatch?

Hey Michael,
The Taylor Made Sponge Gasket for Boat Hatch Lids - 7' Long # 3691725 is the only part made by Taylor Made specifically for this application. I took a look at other d-seals that we have to see if there's something that may work for your setup, but every other option is going to be taller than the 13/32" seal that you currently have.
I'm curious as to why the seal is causing the hatch to not latch. Is it completely too tall or does it just take a lot of pressure to close? Since it's an older boat, I would imagine that over time the seal had worn and made it a lot easier to close. Is this the first time the seal is being replaced?
