Best Way To Carry 3 Bikes With A 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid

Updated 06/27/2026 | Published 06/18/2026

Question:

What are my options to transport bikes minimum of 3 on my 2019 Hyundai Ionic Plug-In Hybrid? It seems hitches arent compatible without modifying them and a roof-mounted rack would be efficient? Budget-friendly would be great. Thanks! ??

Hey V, thanks for reaching out. The best, most cost-effective way to carry 3 bikes on your 2019 Hyundai Ioniq plug-in hybrid is with a trunk mounted rack. We carry one that is confirmed to fit your Ioniq. Here is what I recommend:

- Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # Y02633

This can carry 3 bikes weighing up to 35 lbs apiece, so it works great for mountain bikes or road bikes. It also includes an integrated locking cable for added security and features adjustable arms to help accommodate different bike styles.

The one thing to keep in mind with any hanging-style rack is that some bikes, especially step-through, women's, kids', or certain mountain bikes, may need a bike adapter bar for the best fit. Also, if you'll be carrying three bikes regularly, taking a few extra minutes to stagger the handlebars will make the setup much more stable and help prevent bike-to-bike contact during travel.

A roof rack would work too, but by the time you buy the crossbars and three bike carriers, you'll spend quite a bit more. Plus, loading bikes onto the roof of a hatchback can get old pretty quickly.

What kind of bikes do you have?
