Question:
I have an older Roadmaster Falcon tow bar and I’m thinking about replacing it before a long trip. Would the Ultra-Fab be a good upgrade?

Hi Bill! If your current Roadmaster Falcon tow bar is getting older or harder to use, you do have a couple directions you can go. We still carry some replacement parts for the Falcon tow bars, so if the bar is in good shape overall and just needs a specific latch, arm, bushing, or hardware piece, it may be worth trying to bring it back to life.
Roadmaster also services a lot of their older tow bars at RV events and rallies, and their tow bars are backed by a limited lifetime warranty, so that’s another route to check before replacing the whole setup.
That said, if the tow bar is worn enough that you’d rather start fresh before a big trip, the Ultra-Fab # UF35XR is a nice newer option to consider if you’re staying with Roadmaster base plates. It’s an all-terrain, non-binding tow bar rated for 8,000 lbs, so the arms are designed to release more easily when your towed vehicle is sitting at a slight angle or on uneven ground. It also stores on the motorhome and includes safety cables, so you’re not starting from scratch with every piece. I'd say it is similar quality to the Roadmaster tow bars.
If you’re towing something heavier than a typical Jeep, small SUV, or midsize vehicle, I’d look at the 12,000 lb # UF45XR instead. Also, if your Roadmaster base plates are the older crossbar-style setup, you’ll need the quick-disconnect crossbar assembly # 910021-00, sold separately. What are you towing behind the RV, Bill?
