Midsized Coleman AC Unit Kit For Camper That Runs Off Generator Power

Published 05/06/2026

Question:

I do a fair amount of generator camping, and I don’t want to go bigger than I need to so keep power consumption in mind. My fifth wheel is ducted. Is there a Coleman setup you’d recommend that keeps things practical? My old Coleman has taken care of me for a long time until now.

Yes Derek - if your fifth wheel is ducted and you want to keep things practical, I’d look hard at the Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 3 # CM95RR. It gives you a full ducted replacement in the 13,500 Btu size, which can be a smart middle ground if your RV doesn’t really need a 15K unit.

It also runs on 115/120V AC power, and that smaller 13.5K size can make more sense when you’re trying to be careful with generator use. If you want, tell me what fifth wheel and generator you have and I can help you decide if # CM95RR is enough.

One really nice benefit of the new Roughneck lineup is that they are built heavier duty than standard RV AC units; they are made to hold up to rough vibrations and off-roading.
