Hello Kathy, thanks for reaching out, that’s a really good question.
You can position that WeatherTech Pet Barrier # WT79UQ a bit farther back with the rear seat folded down, it doesn’t have to sit directly behind the front seats. The support feet can rest on the folded seat or cargo floor, and as long as it’s adjusted snugly between the floor and ceiling, it will stay in place.
That said, the key is getting it tight and properly adjusted. These rely on pressure and fit rather than bolting in, so if it’s set up correctly it won’t slide around. If it’s left a little loose, that’s when you can run into movement. With a CR-V, you’ve got a nice flat area when the seats are down, so it usually works well for placing it a bit farther back to give your dog more room while still keeping your cargo contained.
What size is your dog? What cargo will you be hauling behind the barrier? Or is your goal just to keep the dog out of the front seat?
