Is Replacing the Head of a Weight Distribution System Difficult
Published 07/02/2014 >
Question:
Is this something I can do myself? I ordered this as a replacement part as one of the notches on my current WD hitch is now gone and in another 5 years, Im sure itll happen again. Do I need special tools? Thanks

To replace the head of your weight distribution system with the Reese Replacement Head for Round Bars part # RP58112 would not be hard at all. Basic tools are the only thing really needed. Basically you will just remove the two grade 8 bolts from the head of your system and the head will come off of the shank and you will be able to install the new head on the shank.
I attached a picture that has a diagram that shows how it all will go together. I also attached installation instructions for a WD system that uses this head that might be helpful as well.
