Does the KATS 15200 OIL HEATER HAVE TO BE REMOVED AFTER EACH USE?

Hi Gilberto!

The Kat's Heaters Engine Oil Dipstick Heater # KH15200 does indeed need to be removed after your oil is heated up. If you are wanting something that would stay installed, you will need to go a different way.

We do have a bunch of potential options for that, but I will need to know the year, make, and model of your vehicle. The engine size will also be helpful.

@GilbertoD Since your Xterra has the 4.0, you should have a second gen model (05 to 15). With that said, we have the Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater - Frost Plug Style - 120V - 400 Watts - 30 mm # KH11412 that can be left in the vehicle after being warmed up. Not quite the same as the dipstick heater, but I have heard these do tend to work a bit better (there are some mixed results with the dipstick one). We also have the Kat's Heaters Ether Start Fluid Injection System - 3.3L to 8.2L Engine - 18 oz - Pull Cable # KH33180 if you wanted to check out something completely different, but I must admit to not having any experience with this. Out of curiosity, where are you located?

@GilbertoD Ah that makes sense. We are south of you in St. Louis, Missouri and it is supposed to get very cold this weekend. Stay warm out there and let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
