Question:
I recently purchased a Hopkins #47185 from you which Im trying to install in my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. Do I need to install a brake controller in addition to this adapter? My popup camper does have electric brakes. Thanks.

Electric brakes on a trailer do require a brake controller be installed in the tow vehicle to activate them. Along the most popular and reliable units we offer is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This brake controller is easy to set up and operate and offers 3 boost levels, battery protection and continuous diagnostics. It is among the highest-rated controllers used by our customers.
Installation of this unit will require a brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7 that you referenced. It also requires that your Grand Caravan have a working 4-pole flat trailer connector installed. If you need a 4-pole I suggest the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56331; this harness does not require you to cut into your vehicle's wiring as some others do.
I have linked you to several helpful installation articles and videos that will enable you to see the process of installing the controller. Each step is explained and illustrated.
