Does Aries Grille Guard AA29MX Allow Factory Tow Hooks To Remain On Vehicle?

Question:

2022 Ram 1500 Sport 5.7Hemi V-8 gas powered. Will the AA29MX allow me use of my tow hooks after installation?

Hello, and thanks for reaching out. The Aries Grille Guard # AA29MX does fit your 2022 Ram 1500, but it does require the factory tow hooks to be removed during installation. The mounting brackets occupy the same space as the tow hook assemblies, so once the guard is installed, the hooks can’t be reinstalled.

@JesseM Removing my tow hooks is the most ridiculous idea I can imagine! This is a farm and work truck, I actually use the tow hooks on my trucks. So that grille guard will not work. I had a 2008 Ram and a 2018 Ram, on both I was able to install brush guards and retain my tow hooks. So I am still on the search. Thanks for asking. Peggy

@Hemi That makes total sense, especially on a farm or work truck. If you actually use the tow hooks, giving them up just to run a grille guard isn’t a good tradeoff. Ram has definitely made it harder on the newer 1500s compared to the older models where you could keep the hooks and still add a brush guard. I appreciate you sharing that comparison with your 2008 and 2018 Rams, that’s helpful context for others running into the same issue. Hopefully you’re able to find a guard that keeps the tow hooks intact, because I agree, on a work truck those are too important to lose.
