Replacing Advent Air AC135B Thermostat With Digital Thermostat

Question:

Hello, You Experts and your willingness to share info is so helpful, thank you for this service! I have a Kodiak 2013 trailer with a defective ACTH11 tstat, which I understand is discontinued and requires a new distribution box ACRG15 in order to replace the tsat with a digital model. My question is, is the ACRG15 distribution box compatible with my existing AC unit AC135b? I would hate to think I have to replace the entire AC unit and distribution box just because I have a defective analog tstat, but I am afraid you are going to tell me that I cant simply install the ACRG15 with my existing roof top AC. Thanks in advance for you appreciated expertise!

Hey Chip! The ACRG15 air distribution box (ADB) will work with your AC135B so you can switch to the digital thermostat. The problem you're going to have is finding those parts. Everything switched to the new R32 refrigerant this year because of the EPA guidelines and the old ADB and thermostat were discontinued. If you can find them you can make the switch.

The new R32 parts are not backwards compatible so you can't get them to work with your existing AC. If you can't find an old ADB and thermostat for your R410A unit the only solution I can offer is complete replacement with the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV85SR.

Since a lot of people had to make the switch this past spring/summer I would see if a local RV scrap yard has these parts available before spending the money for a new system.
