Looking For Roof Rack For Carrying Rooftop Tent On 2004 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Wagon?

Question:
I’m looking to install a rooftop tent on my 2004 MBZ G-wagon. The tent weighs 170 lbs. are your cross bars rated for this weight? If so can I purchase 3 crossbars? How much $? Do they lock? Is there a rubber strip along the top of the bar? Thank you, Sean

Hello Sean, thanks for reaching out. The Front Runner Roof Rack # FR65GJ is the correct fit for the 2004 2004 Mercedes-Benz G-Class wagon. That said, this roof rack does not have a specific dynamic weight rating. The bars can hold whatever the roof can hold, so the roof rack weight capacity will be the same as your roof capacity. Please refer to your owners manual for the actual weight capacity of your roof.
We do not offer any kind of rubber strip for the top of the bars, and sadly there is no provision for locking the bars to the roof, or for adding a 3rd crossbar.
What roof tent are you planning to use? Does it come with T-slot hardware?

Hey Sean, what ended up happening with the rooftop tent for your G-Wagon? Were you able to confirm the roof’s weight capacity and get the setup you wanted? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar build.
