Does My Converter Need To Be Replaced When Upgrading To Lithium liFePhos4 Batteries?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/15/2025

Question:

I am interested in replacing my normal flood battery for a liFePhos4 battery. I have a 2017 Winn 1710. Someone told me that my trailer might not be able to have that kind of a battery or I would need a special converter. Please advice.

Hello Colleen, thanks for reaching out. You will need a converter that is compatible with lithium liFePhos4 batteries. Lithium batteries require a slightly higher charging voltage, and not all converters are lithium compatible.

That said, I do not have a way to look up your RV to know exactly what model of converter you have now. There should be a sticker on your converter/power center with a model number. If you can share that model number with me I should be able to tell you if your converter is lithium compatible or not. We will most likely have a compatible replacement for you if needed so just let me know what you have and we can take it from there.

Hey Colleen, did you manage to find the model number on your converter? If you’re still looking for a solution, I’m happy to help.
