Best Trailer Hitch For 2011 Kia Sportage And Carrier With Ramp For Electric Wheelchair

Looking to buy a hitch for my mother she has a 2011 kia sportage lx 2wd 2.4 liter she needs one to tow an electric wheelchair type thing what hitch would you recommend for this application we been looking at the platforms with the foldout ramps. any info is appreciated!

Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out. The best trailer hitch for the 2011 Kia Sportage is the Curt Class 3 Hitch # C13120. This has a 2" receiver and a 525 lb tongue weight capacity which should be more than enough for an electric wheelchair and a carrier.
As far as a carrier with a ramp, take a look at the following:
- 32x48 Reese Steel Solo Cargo Carrier and Folding Ramp for 2" Hitches - 400 lbs # PS10401-10402
This comes with a 48" folding ramp which is ideal for loading electric wheelchairs. You will just want to be sure her wheelchair will fit on the 47-3/4" long x 31-3/4" wide platform. The carrier has tie down holes for securing your cargo.
Any idea how much the wheelchair weighs? Or how large the base is?
