Troubleshooting Solera RV Awning that Will Extend but Not Retract

Question:
I have a 2022 Dutchmen Yukon 399ML. I have a Lippert Solera rear awning that I thought had a bad motor but wasnt. I extend the awning back it will not retract. Does it have a helper spring inside it? IF so I assume it is on the motor side. Is there a part number for the spring?

Hey Greg, RV awnings have like a garage door torsion spring built into the roller that the fabric is wrapped around. It sounds like maybe yours wasn't wound properly and that's your issue. Usually they are wound 14 times at install so that they have enough spring tension.
