Question:
Hello. I was looking at the 75782 Draw Tite Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Ford Escape, but my bike rack is 1” or 1-1/4”, is there an adapter or another hitch option that will work? Thank you.

Hey Terri, great question! Both options are actually possible for your 2017 Ford Escape. If you stick with the # 75782 you can use the Trailer Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e63YR to adapt your bike rack. You can also choose to add the Class II # 36529 which has a 1-1/4" receiver.
The only downside to the smaller hitch is you would need an adapter for any 2" accessories or ball mounts down the road. A 1-1/4" to 2" adapter will cut your capacity in half which doesn't happen with the reducer. If you think you'll only ever carry that bike rack then this is the way to go. If you think a 2" receiver is something you might need in the future then I would get the # 75782 and use the reducer. You may also want to consider an anti-rattle like the # e38FV to cut down unwanted movement.

Hey Terri, did you decide to go with the reducer for the 2-inch hitch or opt for the smaller 1-1/4-inch hitch for your bike rack? I'm curious to know how it worked out for your Ford Escape, as it could help others make a similar decision.
