Replacement Pin Box and How to Measure for it on a 2005 Keystone Montana 2955RL

Updated 05/30/2025 | Published 05/23/2025

Question:

I am purchasing a 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500HD with the Std 67 bed with 21inch side rails. I have a 2005 Keystone Montana 2955RL. The pinbox appears to be a 1716. No sticker exists any longer, so Im going off of the website photos. The only numbers I can find are on the wingset. Those numbers are: 4YDF295275D513679. Can you tell me which Goosebox would work for this combination, or would a goosebox work at all. Im 70 with medical issues and I cant manipulate my Companion hitch any longer, its just too heavy for me now.

Hey Steve thanks for the pictures. Without that pin box sticker or a part number you'll need to measure the bolt spacing and pattern on your pin box. I have linked a faq below that will walk you through the process.

Once you get this information or if you have any additional questions, go ahead and throw them into the comment box below and I'll be happy to answer them and find you the right goosebox.

From the measurements, I have a 1716 pinbox. Two rows of (3) 5/8 bolts, the rest of the measurements are matching the 1716 pinbox. So, for my combination of truck and trailer, would a goosebox work and give me adequate turning ability, an Anderson.Ultimate, or is a slider my only option?

@Stever Thanks for that information Steve. The correct goosebox is going to be the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter item # RP94716-61301. You will also need the Reese Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks item # RP49151. You have to use safety chains with a gooseneck connection and they are not included with the goose box. A goosebox is not going to improve your turning clearance. They're the same size as your standard kingpin pin box. However, we do have some ways to get you some additional clearance. Does your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 have the factory puck system or a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch?

@JerredH Hi Jerrod, it has the regular turnover ball.

@Steve Since your Silverado has the B&W Turnoverball System item # BWGNRK1016 installed, I recommend the B&W 4" Offset Ball item # BWGNXA4085. This will push the connection point of your gooseneck hitch back 4" towards the tailgate of your truck.
