Hey Mike,
The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 122-1 is not compatible with your 1978 Chevy because it has the 5.7L engine.
I'm not seeing any other custom options from a manufacturer either, but I do have some alternative options for you to think about.
Curt has their Adjustable Tow Bar # C19745 which installs by modifying the mounts to a vehicle, or you can have a shop try to figure out a mounting system for you. Either way, it's going to involve modifying your vehicle and you'll want to make sure you have a qualified mechanic do the work.

Hey Mike, did you end up trying the Curt adjustable tow bar for your K10? Knowing how that setup worked could really help others with older trucks looking for a similar solution.
