Hi Tom,

The LaSalle Bristol Motodrain Electronic Waste Valve # LSB42TR switch has three positions because it has an extend (close), retract (open), and idle position.

Idle position? What is it used for? For instance, if I want to keep the grey open after draining, should I put the three position drain switch in idle?

@Tom There's only contacts on the extend and retract positions for the switch. If you aren't pressing on the switch to extend or retract the gate the switch would sit in a middle position where nothing happens. The gate will stay wherever you have it when you release the switch so if you wanted to leave it open you would just hold retract to open the gate and just leave it that way.
