Hi Michael,
I believe your 2008 Ford Explorer already has a 4-way so you're just looking to add the 7-way, which you can do with the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185.
This will allow you to use a brake controller, the Tekonsha Voyager # TK32UR or Tekonsha POD # TK92UR.
